OPP seize more than $47K in suspected drugs in northwestern Ont.

Ontario Provincial Police have charged a woman from Kenora, Ont., with drug trafficking after a traffic stop led to the seizure of a significant quantity of suspected drugs.

OPP conducted the stop on a motor vehicle in Kenora on Saturday and subsequently took the driver, a 32-year-old local woman, into custody for breaching court-ordered conditions.

During a search following her arrest, police located and seized 23.93 grams of suspected psilocybin, 31.03 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 58.5 suspected Oxycodone pills and 46.49 grams of suspected fentanyl.

“The seized drugs have a combined street value of approximately $47,566,” OPP said in a news release.

Officers also seized cell phones, knives and cash.

As a result of the investigation, the woman is charged with four counts of drug trafficking, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime and three counts of failing to comply with a release order.

The accused was held in custody pending a court appearance.
