Online voting is now open in Timmins for the municipal election, giving eligible voters the opportunity to cast their ballot anytime, from anywhere with an internet connection. From 10 a.m. Oct. 7 until 8 p.m. on voting day Oct. 26, residents will be able to cast their ballots using the internet. “Voter information letters are currently in the mail and should be arriving shortly,” the city said in a news release Wednesday. “Each letter contains the unique online voter ID and PIN request to cast a ballot online. Voter information letters are personal and confidential and should not be shared.” Secure online voting Once their letter arrives, voters can visit Timmins.ca, select ‘Vote Now’ from the homepage, and follow the instructions to access the secure online voting system. “Voting can be completed using a computer, tablet, or smartphone with an internet or mobile data connection,” the release said. Because of delays with the delivery of printed voter information letters, Voatz Inc. has set up an electronic Voter Information Letter portal available to eligible voters. Eligible voters can use the online portal to safely access their letter and the unique Voter PIN they will need to vote online. A paper copy of the voter information letter will also be delivered. Each eligible voter can only vote once. Residents who need access to a computer or need help voting online can also use one of the city’s online voting kiosks at the Timmins Public Library, C.M. Shields Library Branch, or the Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Centre during regular business hours. Staff will be available to help. Eligible voters who need to update their voter information or need immediate access to their Voter Information Letter can visit Service Timmins at city hall for help.
