Northwestern Ont. resident charged with drug, weapon offences

A 21-year-old Kenora resident has been charged following a drug trafficking investigation in the city, Ontario Provincial Police say.

Items seized by police

As a result of the investigation, police seized:

• approximately 2.58 grams of suspected crack cocaine,
• a pellet gun,
• a large hunting knife,
• cutting agent,
• packaging materials,
• multiple cell phones,
• debt lists and
• other drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Multiple charges laid

The accused has been charged with drug trafficking, carrying a concealed weapon and failing to comply with an undertaking.

The local was held in custody pending a bail hearing on Thursday.

Authorities ask public to report drug activity

“Anyone with information regarding illegal drug activity is encouraged to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122,” said provincial police in a news release Thursday.

OPP said anonymous tips can also be provided to Crime Stoppers.
