A Kirkland Lake-area woman has turned her own dog into the inspiration for a new children’s book about the holiday season. Linda Yule’s book, Sasha’s Christmas Adventure, follows a pup as she experiences the many events leading up to what Yule describes as the most wonderful time of the year. “I have always wanted to write children’s books but unfortunately, work and raising children kept me busy,” Yule told CTV News. “Now my family has grown, and they are having families of their own.” Real dog at the heart of the story Yule said Sasha is a real dog who has been part of the family for 15 years. “In the book, Sasha is a little white dog, and she lives in northeastern Ontario. This pup absolutely loves family. She has to go out with her human dad and has to find the perfect Christmas tree. She enjoys walks in the snow, loves to decorate and, of course, take the Christmas cookie,” Yule said. Lessons of gratitude and family Yule added that she hopes readers take away a message of gratitude and family adventures from her book. “A little dog can mean so much to so many people. A family pet means so much to a family, whether that is to a child or even an adult,” she said. Sasha tells her own tale According to Yule, Sasha even narrates her own book, guiding young readers through the story from a canine perspective. “She walks you through the book,” Yule said. “She tells you everything: who she is waiting for, or who she is ready to go for walks with.” Excitement among family and friends The author said her family and friends are excited for her and they even want her to sign their copies just in case she becomes famous.
