A North Bay woman is facing multiple charges, including impaired operation, following a traffic stop conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police in North Bay late last month. According to OPP, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a pickup truck on Cassells Road at about 10 p.m. on Aug. 31. “While speaking with the driver, the officer determined the individual had consumed alcohol,” OPP said in a news release on Sept. 10. OPP said the driver was taken into custody and transported to the local detachment for further testing. “During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers located open alcohol containers,” police said. Charges and penalties As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 31-year-old local woman, was charged with owner operating a motor vehicle without insurance, driving a vehicle without a currently valid permit, failing to notify of a change of address, operating with no mudguards and driving with an open container of alcohol, along with two impaired driving offences. In addition to the charges, she received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the truck involved was impounded for seven days. The accused was released and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 6.
