Starting Monday, April 28, Ontario Northland passengers can use their bus tickets to access North Bay Transit at no additional cost, eliminating the need for a separate fare. The initiative aims to improve connectivity for the “first and last mile” of trips. A six-month pilot “We’re pleased to see Ontario Northland Transportation Commission working with the City of North Bay to improve transportation services for residents,” said MPP Vic Fedeli. “This six-month pilot project will make transportation in Nipissing more cost-efficient for people travelling on the Ontario Northland buses.” North Bay Transit Manager Drew Poeta called the initiative “a significant step forward in our commitment to offering efficient and accessible transit solutions,” in a city news release last week. Bob Sloss, Ontario Northland’s director of passenger operations, said the program reflects a dedication to “continually improving our services” by easing transfers between transit systems. A long-term arrangement possible Ridership data and passenger feedback will be collected during the pilot to assess its effectiveness. If successful, the partnership could lead to long-term integration.
