No injuries after Thursday morning residential fire in Sudbury

A home under construction in the Minnow Lake area of Sudbury caught fire Thursday morning, resulting in damage but no injuries, officials said.

A house under construction in the Minnow Lake area of Greater Sudbury caught fire Thursday morning.

The fire broke out at a residence at Howey Drive and Somerset Street around 6:30 a.m., deputy fire chief Jesse Oshell told CTV News.

Four stations responded to the fire, which was under control as of 8 a.m., Oshell said.

The cause is still under investigation, but he said it doesn’t appear to be suspicious. A damage estimate wasn’t immediately available.

While the fire is under control, the road was still blocked off by Sudbury police so that firefighters can continue their work.
