Two individuals are facing drug trafficking charges after police executed a search warrant at a Stewart Street residence in Kapuskasing, seizing suspected fentanyl and cocaine with an estimated street value of more than $10,000. Ontario Provincial Police’s James Bay Community Street Crime Unit conducted a drug trafficking investigation that led to the warrant. OPP members with assistance from the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service executed the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant on July 29. Arrests and seizure “During the execution of the warrant, two individuals were arrested without incident,” OPP said in a news release. Police said officers seized about 15 grams of suspected fentanyl and 31 grams of suspected cocaine from the home along with about $3,000 in cash, cellular phones, and drug trafficking paraphernalia. OPP estimated the street value of the drugs seized as $10,600. Charges laid A 42-year-old local woman and a 25-year-old man from Kitchener have each been charged with two counts of drug trafficking offences and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. The Kapuskasing woman faces an additional charge of failing to comply with a probation order. Both accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice.
