A 52-year-old man from Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., has been charged with criminal harassment in Canada in an incident that began across the border. The case took place May 24, police said in a news release. “An investigation revealed that, despite warnings from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Department in Michigan, the accused continued harassing and following a victim who is not well known to them,” the release said. “The accused had followed the victim to Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., from Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., to beset and watch them.” Police on the Canadian side of the border were called just after 5:30 p.m. about a disturbance at a business on Great Northern Road in the city. “Shortly before 9 p.m., officers located and arrested the accused,” police said. “The accused is charged with criminal harassment – beset and watch a person known to the complainant.
