Firefighters from Nipissing First Nation responded to a fire Monday afternoon at a GFL Environmental warehouse on Highway 17 West. Officials with the First Nation’s fire department said that the fire was now under control and that crews were dealing with hotspots. Crews responded at 2:54 p.m. A total of 16 firefighters responded from Nipissing First Nation, along with a water tanker from North Bay. The cause of the fire was not yet determined as of early Monday evening, when fire crews were still on the scene. No injuries have been reported, but plumes of black smoke have been seen billowing from the area of the blaze. The North Bay Fire Department confirmed it has sent a tanker truck to support NFN firefighters.
