Many people in the Sudbury area are busy checking their lottery tickets Thursday after news from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation that the winning ticket for a recent draw worth over $9-million was sold in Sudbury. Chrissy Mullen has worked at J&T Lottery for over four years and in that time she has seen a few big winners. "The most I’ve seen, I think, was around $50,000. It was just a scratch ticket, but we've sold a couple of million Max Millions, Encore, we do it here." said Mullen. The OLG says a winning ticket valued at over $9.3-million dollars was sold in Sudbury and when that news broke, many lottery retailers had people lining up to scan their tickets. "They're all saying ‘oh this is the one’ and then when it's a non-winner ‘uh, back to work.’" said Mullen. So what do locals think about someone becoming a millionaire because of a ticket bought in the city? "I think it's unbelievable. I don't know what they would do with that kind of money." "Congratulations to them, and it would be nice if I knew who it was, maybe we can share a little bit." "I'd help my family out quite a bit." "I would buy a Lamborghini and I’d go around the world." At this time, it is unclear where the ticket was purchased and by whom, and whether it was a local person or someone travelling through the city. The next Lotto 649 draw is on Saturday for an estimated $5-million jackpot.
