NANAIMO, B.C. - The Mounties made like Marines when they took to the high seas to collar a cockeyed captain off the B.C. coast.

The RCMP in Nanaimo say they got a complaint about a drunk man in a 13-metre sailboat hitting other vessels in a marina.

The incident happened on Canada Day, but police are only releasing details now.

Police say when officers arrived at the marina, the man waved a metal pole at them and rammed another boat before heading into open waters under motor power.

The Mounties gave chase in a citizen's boat and a coast guard auxiliary zodiac, eventually boarding the sailboat and arresting its skipper.

A 54-year-old man faces multiple charges, including impaired boating and assaulting a police officer, and the Mounties say the damage from his escapade amounts to about $4,000.
