VANCOUVER - Vancouver police say more people are admitting they took part in the Stanley Cup riot and officers are identifying other suspects whose photos were posted on a new website earlier this week.

Another six people have either turned themselves in or are in the process of doing so, joining several others who surrendered in the days and weeks following the June 15 riot.

No charges have been laid against any of those who've admitted joining the riot, with police saying they want to make certain they have solid cases against them before proceeding to the courts.

Police say the website has recorded more than 100,000 hits since its launch and investigators are working to confirm names provided for nine of the 40 suspects whose pictures are featured on the site.

Police have received more than 225 tips since the site went on line.

The developments follow Thursday's release of an independent report on the riot that said the police were overwhelmed by a largely drunken crowd that swamped the downtown area during the final game of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
