A vehicle was set on fire early Wednesday morning in Montreal’s Saint-Leonard borough. Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call at 2 a.m. about the incident on J.-B.-Martineau Street near Viau Boulevard. “When the police arrived on the scene, the Montreal fire department was already getting the fire under control,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, a spokesperson with Montreal police. “The burned vehicle is a car, and it’s a total loss.” No incendiary materials were found on site. “Certain elements on the scene suggest a fire of a criminal nature,” said Chèvrefils. The vehicle was towed for expert analysis. The file has been transferred to the Montreal police arson squad.
