A 75-year-old woman has died after she was struck by a vehicle last week in Montreal’s Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough. The collision happened on May 20 at around 9:30 a.m. near the corner of Sherbrooke Street and Haig Avenue. According to police, the driver, an 18-year-old woman, was turning onto Sherbrooke when the vehicle struck the woman while she was crossing the street. The pedestrian died in hospital from her injuries on May 22, but Montreal police said they were only notified of her death on Tuesday. A police spokesperson said speed does not appear to have been a factor in the collision, but the case is still under investigation.
