A teenager has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a deadly home invasion on Montreal’s South Shore over the weekend. Longueuil police (SPAL) were called to Renaud Street in the Saint-Hubert sector shortly after 2 a.m. on Sunday for a break-in in progress. An elderly couple in the home was assaulted and were both transported to hospital, where the man died of his injuries. The woman was injured in the upper body and was listed in stable condition. Police arrested 19-year-old Lydia Ghorici at the scene. On Monday, police announced that she has been charged with second-degree murder, assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon, breaking and entering, and theft. She appeared in court by videoconference and will remain in custody until her next court appearance on Dec. 18. With files from CTV News’ Erika Morris
