Montreal police (SPVM) arrested two teens, suspected of operating a fraud scheme targeting seniors. The suspects, aged 18 and 19, are alleged to have operated in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and Montreal North boroughs, in addition to Sherbrooke. The two men were released on a promise to appear in court at a later date. The SPVM said it was not sharing the main points of the alleged scheme for prevention purposes. “The suspects allegedly targeted addresses where seniors lived in order to break in and steal their bank cards,” the SPVM said in a news release. “Following the theft, the suspects allegedly called the victims, posing as police officers or representatives of financial institutions, to confirm the address and PIN of the stolen cards.
