Quebec provincial police (SQ) arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with a 2022 crash on Highway 30 on Montreal’s South Shore that killed an 11-year-old boy and a 42-year-old woman. Truck driver Baljeet Singh was charged with dangerous driving causing death and dangerous driving causing bodily harm. Singh appeared by video conference in a Longueuil, Que., courtroom Thursday. He was denied bail and will be back in court Oct. 15. Singh was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals on Aug. 21 under a warrant issued by American authorities following several months of extradition proceedings. Police say the crash happened on July 19, 2022, at 10:30 p.m. Singh allegedly failed to slow down as he approached a work zone near Grande-Allée Boulevard, crashing into seven vehicles.
