A command post is in place on Sunday, and police on Montreal’s South Shore are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a 62-year-old man who has been missing for two weeks in the winter cold. Sylvain Birtz was last seen Jan. 4 at around 12:30 p.m. on Écluses Boulevard in Sainte-Catherine. Roussillon Police have conducted multiple ground searches without success and have set up a command post at 4125 Saint-Laurent Boulevard in Sainte-Catherine on Sunday. “Mr. Birtz’s disappearance is cause for concern, as it is not in his habit to be absent from work without notice and to not inform those around him of his whereabouts,” police said in a news release. Birtz is 5′9″ (1.73 m.) and weighs around 150 pounds (68 kg.). He has grey hair and brown eyes and speaks French. He may have been wearing a black Nautica coat and black Columbia boots. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 450-638-0911, ext. 488 or visit the police team at the command post.
