A Parti Québécois (PQ) government would commit to reducing the cost of infrastructure projects. PQ leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon presented around 10 measures on Tuesday to achieve this if he secures a majority in October. The PQ criticizes the fact that, for example, the CAQ government will pay $470 million for a secondary school for 1,500 pupils, the Louis-Philippe Paré school in Montérégie, whilst Ontario is announcing schools of the same capacity for $75 million. According to St-Pierre Plamondon, to remedy this, competition must be increased by allowing smaller players to bid on smaller parts of contracts. Furthermore, the government must once again become a reliable client that stops constantly changing course. Every change in the construction stages leads contractors to charge more.
