Several billion dollars in infrastructure savings are possible, according to Parti Québécois

A Parti Québécois (PQ) government would commit to reducing the cost of infrastructure projects.

PQ leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon presented around 10 measures on Tuesday to achieve this if he secures a majority in October.

The PQ criticizes the fact that, for example, the CAQ government will pay $470 million for a secondary school for 1,500 pupils, the Louis-Philippe Paré school in Montérégie, whilst Ontario is announcing schools of the same capacity for $75 million.

According to St-Pierre Plamondon, to remedy this, competition must be increased by allowing smaller players to bid on smaller parts of contracts.

Furthermore, the government must once again become a reliable client that stops constantly changing course. Every change in the construction stages leads contractors to charge more.

Furthermore, the PQ specifically aims to streamline procedures and reduce bureaucracy so that projects can be completed more quickly.
