A series about Céline Dion’s family is in development. The Quebec diva’s brother, Jacques Dion, confirmed the news on Thursday, which had been reported on the website Deadline. Dion, however, made a point of clarifying in a message sent to The Canadian Press that the series is not solely about his famous sister, but primarily about their mother, Thérèse Tanguay-Dion, who passed away in 2020. Céline Dion’s humble childhood in Charlemagne, north of Montreal, is well known. Tanguay and Adhémar Dion had 14 children, several of whom pursued careers in music. Céline, Jacques, and Thérèse Dion co-wrote the song that launched her career in Quebec: “Ce n’était qu’un rêve.” The series is produced by Jacques Dion, among others, and also features Jimmy Dion, the singer’s nephew. British-American screenwriter Zoë Green is also involved; her agency, Curtis Brown, notes in her biography that she is working on a series about the Dion family. Jacques Dion could not say more about the project, particularly regarding the planned release date. Céline Dion is currently preparing to return to the stage in Paris. The singer, who suffers from Stiff Person Syndrome, has not performed on stage since 2020. She will give several concerts at Paris La Défense Arena this fall. She made her big comeback in 2024, delivering a memorable performance of “L’hymne à l’amour” during the Paris Olympic Games ceremony.
