Rain expected this weekend in Montreal

Those in the greater Montreal area can brace themselves for rain to start the weekend.

Partly cloudy skies and a low of 18 degrees Celsius on Friday will lead to showers come early Saturday.

As much as 23 millimetres of rain could fall over the island area over the course of the day.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, there is also a thunderstorm risk.

Saturday is still expected to feel warm. A daytime high of 25 degrees Celsius could feel more like 29 degrees Celsius with the humidity.

Saturday evening will bring a break from the heat, as the mercury moves to a low of 16 degrees Celsius.

A brighter end to the weekend lies ahead. Sunny skies and a high of 23 degrees are in the forecast for Sunday.

A mix of sun and clouds is then expected to start next week.
