Quebec City woman retires after winning $14-million Lotto Max jackpot

A Quebec City woman is saying goodbye to her employer after winning a $14-million Lotto Max jackpot in the Jan. 13 draw.

Karine Sirois, who bought her ticket online, was notified by Loto-Québec the day after the draw because she hadn’t yet checked the results.

The fifty-something told her manager she would retire after passing on the torch.

“We’re delighted to start the year by awarding a Lotto Max jackpot. Let’s hope that luck will continue throughout 2026 and that many Quebec families will benefit,” said Isabelle Jean, executive vice-president and chief operating officer of Lottery Games at Loto-Québec.

Sirois told Loto-Québec she plans to fulfil long-held dreams, including buying a house and travelling with her loved ones.
