Quebec will invest nearly $269 million in the expansion and modernization of Polytechnique Montréal, which will begin in the spring. Quebec Premier François Legault made the announcement Tuesday afternoon alongside Higher Education Minister Martine Biron, among others. The goal of the project is to train more engineering students in order to “support Quebec’s economic growth” and “carry out its major projects,” the government said in a news release. The work, with a total value of $356.2 million, is scheduled for completion in 2031. The funds will be used to acquire half of the J.-Armand-Bombardier building, which belonged to the University of Montreal, to expand the building, and to redevelop and green the outdoor spaces. “Quebec’s future depends on innovation, and innovation depends on our engineers.
