Christine Fréchette’s appointment as leader of the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) has boosted her party’s support in Quebec at the expense of the Liberals, according to the latest Léger poll. The PQ, meanwhile, remains in the lead. The poll, conducted from April 17 to 20, just a few days after Fréchette’s victory, shows a four-point increase for the CAQ (17 per cent) compared to the firm’s previous poll. Charles Milliard’s Liberals have dropped five points to 28 per cent. The Parti Québécois sits at the top with 31 per cent. Éric Duhaime’s Conservatives are up two points (14 per cent), and Quebec Solidaire remains steady at 8 per cent. The next general election will take place this coming October. The poll was conducted online with a sample of 1,030 people aged 18 and older.
