A 41-year-old man who had been released on parole after serving time in prison for killing a Dorval teenager has been re-arrested. James Gould was arrested Tuesday night in front of an apartment building in the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough of Montreal. He had been wanted under an arrest warrant, suspension and reincarceration order since August. Gould had a firearm in his possession and attempted to resist arrest, says Montreal police (SPVM), who add that he was subdued by the SPVM’s tactical squad. A 35-year-old woman was also arrested at the scene. Police say she was carrying two suitcases containing nearly $950,000 in cash. Gould appeared in Montreal court on Wednesday to face charges of unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of stolen property. He remains in custody and will be handed over to prison authorities. He has been reincarcerated under the terms of his arrest warrant. Gould had been released on parole after serving a prison sentence for the manslaughter of 18-year-old Karina Esquivel in Dorval in 2007. FROM 2009: Gould found guilty of manslaughter After failing to report to his community correctional centre three months ago, police issued an arrest warrant for him.
