After closing several stores, Quebec-based outdoor retailer La Cordée is shutting its doors for good. In a message to customers posted Wednesday on its website, La Cordée announced that it will officially cease operations in the coming weeks. The retailer had filed for protection under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act earlier this summer. It had also closed two stores: the one in Laval and the one located in downtown Montreal. Three stores remained open: the one on Saint-Laurent Boulevard in Montreal, La Vie Sportive in Quebec City, and the Saint-Hubert location on Montreal’s South Shore. La Cordée was founded in 1953 as a Scout cooperative. It gradually established itself as a specialist in outdoor activities, camping, as well as cycling and cross-country skiing.
