Quebec provincial police (SQ) arrested a woman from New York on Sunday night and seized over a dozen guns. Police say the 45-year-old woman from Mooers Forks was arrested in the Franklin area trying to cross the border south of Montreal. “Our investigation led us to believe someone was going to be crossing there this morning,” said SQ spokesperson Marc Tessier. Police seized 11 handguns, three assault weapons and two hunting rifles in the operation. After the arrests, police conducted five searches in Gaineau and Kitigan Zibi. One man, 31, was arrested in Gatineau and two others, 29 and 27, were arrested in Kitigan Zibi. The four suspects are expected to face conspiracy to import firearms and gun trafficking charges. The investigation is ongoing.
