Montreal’s Pride Festival is celebrating 20 years, promising to be “more inclusive and festive than ever” as it showcases local talent and the richness of the city’s vibrant 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. “This anniversary edition is driven by listening, transparency and humility, with the communities at the heart of every initiative,” said Higino Monteiro, interim executive director of Pride Montreal. “We hope that Montrealers, as well as visitors from all over, will join us in celebrating this milestone. Twenty years of Pride calls for a grand celebration.” Part of the celebrations includes a “return to roots” in Montreal’s Village. Every evening starting at 7 p.m., the Loto-Quebec Stage at the corner of Papineau and Sainte-Catherine East streets will boast a drag night, an avant-garde evening, a cozy cabaret and more. “Diversity and inclusion are among our top priorities,” said Eric Meunier, director of social engagement at Loto-Quebec. “It is our great pleasure to once again support Montreal Pride, a unifying event that celebrates diversity and has become a staple of the Montreal summer.” This year, the highly anticipated annual pride parade is set to take place on Sunday, Aug. 9, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on René-Lévesque Boulevard.
