A 44-year-old woman was killed in her apartment in Montreal’s Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension borough on Saturday afternoon. Montreal police were called to an apartment on 9th Avenue, near Crémazie Blvd. E., at 1:45 p.m. Upon arrival, police found the woman’s body. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police also found a 51-year-old man with serious upper-body injuries. He was transported to the hospital and remains in critical condition. Police said he is considered a suspect. Montreal police confirmed that the two were in an intimate partner relationship and said the woman’s body showed signs of violence. A security perimeter has been established at the scene as police conduct their investigation. This could be the 12th suspected femicide in Quebec since the beginning of the year. In 2025, there were 14 suspected femicides in Quebec, according to the Canadian Femicide Observatory. This is the 15th homicide in Montreal, police said.
