Montreal police cruiser and firetruck collide at scene of blaze

A Montreal police (SPVM) cruiser and a firetruck were damaged after colliding overnight while responding to a blaze in the Sainte-Marie neighbourhood.

Police report that the crash happened around 11:30 p.m. on the corner of Ontario and Frontenac streets.

Both vehicles, authorities say, were responding to the scene of a fire with their sirens sounding before smashing into each other.

Two police officers were brought to the hospital as a precaution. No firefighters were injured.

The collision remains under investigation.
