Montreal police (SPVM) have arrested a suspect in connection with a nightclub shooting that occurred last month. According to the police, a conflict started at 3 a.m. on May 9 inside Club École Privée on Saint-Laurent Boulevard, near Milton Street, in the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough. A gunshot was fired. Two women, aged 19 and 25, were hit in the legs by a bullet. They were not involved in the conflict. “A tall suspect wearing dark clothing was later seen fleeing on foot,” the Montreal police wrote in a press release. “Both victims were transported to a hospital and, thankfully, survived.” The suspect is a 27-year-old man, and he was arrested late this morning in the borough of Saint-Léonard. The police operation was led by the Project North Investigation Section, with support from Neighbourhood Police Station 42 (Saint-Léonard) and other SPVM support units. According to the police, the suspect’s residence was searched. An investigation file has been submitted to the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions, who will determine the charge(s). The suspect will appear in court in Montreal tomorrow.
