The Montreal Canadiens recalled goalie Jacob Fowler from their farm team on Wednesday morning. Fowler, 21, posted a 19-7-1 record with three shutouts, a 2.23 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage in 27 games this season with the Laval Rocket. The American also has a 4-4-2 record, including one shutout, in 10 games with the Habs this season. He also has a 2.62 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage this season in the NHL. Fowler was assigned to the Rocket after suffering a second consecutive loss with the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge on Jan. 15 against the Buffalo Sabres. The recall comes a few hours before the Habs prepare to play their second game in as many nights against the Senators in Ottawa. Quebec goalie Samuel Montembeault conceded a total of nine goals in his last two starts, against the New York Islanders (Feb. 26) and the Anaheim Ducks (March 6). He lost 4-3 and 6-5, respectively, both times in shootouts. Canadiens head coach Martin St-Louis has yet to confirm which goalie will start in the nation’s capital.
