Montreal police (SPVM) are looking for potential victims of a man facing multiple child pornography, luring and incitement to sexual contact charges. Hervé Rouleau Turcotte, 36, was arrested June 9 in connection with actions reported in May. The SPVM said in a news release that Turcotte allegedly used social media platforms such as Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook to lure teenage girls for “sexual purposes.” “To gain their trust, he allegedly created fake female profiles and engaged in friendly conversations,” the SPVM said. “Once the relationship was established, he allegedly encouraged the victims to communicate with him directly under his real identity and continued the exchanges via text messages and video calls. Pretending to have changed phones and claiming to have found their numbers by chance, he allegedly sent a photo of himself and mentioned that he worked in the restaurant industry, thus initiating the discussion.” Police say he established romantic relationships with the victims. “His exchanges would become more explicit: he would encourage the young girls to engage in sexual contact and would attempt to arrange meetings,” the SPVM said. He claimed to be 26 or 27 years old and used the name Hervé Turcotte. The SPVM’s online child sexual exploitation investigation team feels he may have had other victims in the past. He is 5′8″, weighs 185 pounds and speaks French. He has brown hair and blue eyes. Turcotte was on probation when arrested, police say.
