A man was found dead in an idling vehicle that was stationary in a snowbank in Montreal on Tuesday. Police report that a 911 call around 8:15 a.m. prompted first responders to Champagneur Avenue near Ball Avenue in the Parc-Extension neighbourhood near Jarry Park. On scene, officers found an unconscious 57-year-old man who was inside the running vehicle, which was covered in snow after more than 70 centimetres fell over the past few days. The man was transported to the hospital in critical condition and later died. No marks of violence were found on the man, and the file has been transferred to the coroner’s office to determine a cause of death. Authorities warn against leaving the motor running of a car if it’s encased in snow, because a snow-blocked tailpipe can quickly lead to carbon monoxide build up inside the vehicle.
