Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating an attempted murder after a 22-year-old man was injured by gunshots late Friday night. Police say the man was shot in the upper body at around 11 p.m. in an alleyway near Cremazie Boulevard West and Wiseman Avenue in the Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension borough. The victim was taken to hospital for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. The suspect had already fled the scene when officers arrived. They found several shell casings and bullet impacts at the scene. Pickup truck on fire found in West Island Shortly before midnight, investigators found a pickup truck that was on fire on Anse à l’Orme Road in the West Island. “According to the Montreal fire department, incendiary materials were reportedly used,” said Manuel Couture, a police spokesperson. No injuries or arrests were reported in connection with the torched vehicle. “The case has been transferred to the arson unit, which is examining, among other things, a possible link to the attempted murder that occurred earlier,” Couture added. The investigations into the attempted murder and the arson are ongoing.
