Laurier BBQ to shut down again

MONTREAL—The old Laurier BBQ location is shutting its doors once again.

The restaurant is currently owned by the Nakis family, a partner in Schwatz’s.

The family started running the historic location after a disastrous sponsorship with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay went sour. Ramsay helped launch Laurier: Gordon Ramsay in 2011. But the operation shut down after only six months.

That's when the Nakis family took over and named the restaurant Laurier 1936.

The future of the historic location is uncertain.
