A Quebec man’s last-minute decision to purchase a Lotto 6/49 ticket came with big rewards. Montérégie resident Maurice Rhéaume says he regularly buys lottery tickets and had rushed to his local convenience store on Oct. 2 to buy a Lotto Max ticket. On a whim, he decided to also purchase a Lotto 6/49 ticket - and won $1 million in the Oct. 3 draw. “I almost missed out,” he said with a laugh. “Experiencing something like this once in your life is truly special.” Some of the things Rhéaume says he plans to do with his newfound winnings include buying a property and visiting places that have long been on his bucket list. The winning ticket was purchased at the Couche-Tard convenience store at 390 Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier Blvd. in Saint-Lambert on Montreal’s South Shore. The retailer is expected to receive a one per cent commission of $10,000.
