Here are the Montreal-area road closures for this weekend

Montreal commuters were stuck in traffic after major closures on the Metropolitan Expressway (A-40) due to paving work that is being redone for a fourth time.

Here are the Montreal-area road closures due to construction and fireworks from July 10 to July 13 due to planned construction projects.

Note that there is a major closure on the Metropolitan Expressway for the entire weekend.

Metropolitan Expressway (A-40)

• In Montreal and Ville Mont-Royal, the Metropolitan Expressway (A-40) East is completely closed between Exit 65 (A-520, Côte-de-Liesse Roundabout) and the on-ramp from the Laurentian Highway (A-15) South from Friday at 11 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m.

The following will be default closures starting at 11 p.m.:

• Access from Côte-Vertu Boulevard and the A-520 East.
• At the Décarie Interchange, the ramps from the A-15 North and Marcel-Laurin Boulevard (R-117 South) and Décarie Boulevard.

Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel (A-25)

Southbound

• There will be a complete closure of the tunnel between Exit 5 (R-138, Hochelaga Street, Sherbrooke Street) in Montreal from Friday at 11 p.m. to Saturday at 8 a.m.
• In the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough, Highway 25 South will be completely closed between Exit 5 (R-138, Hochelaga Street, Sherbrooke Street) and the on-ramp from Souligny Avenue East from Friday at 11 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m.

The following will be default closures starting at 10:30 p.m.:

• Access from Sherbrooke, Tellier, and des Futailles streets.
• East Souligny Avenue between Dickson and Honoré-Beaugrand streets.

Northbound

• The northbound tunnel will be closed between Exit 90 (R-132) on the A-20 West in Longueuil and the entrance from Sherbrooke Street East in Montreal from Friday at 11 p.m. to Saturday at 8 a.m.

These are default closures 30 minutes before:

• The ramps leading from Route-132 East and West (Exits 89-N) to Highway 25 North.
• Access from l’Île-Charron Street.
• Traffic heading toward Île Charron will be routed from the access roads on Marie-Victorin Boulevard toward Highway 25 North.
• In the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough, on Highway 25 North, two of three lanes will be closed between the on-ramp from East Souligny Avenue and the Place Curatteau overpass from Saturday at 10:30 p.m. to Sunday at 9 a.m.

These are default closures 30 minutes before:

• East Souligny Avenue, between the A-25 South ramp and Honoré-Beaugrand Street.
• The on-ramp from East Souligny Avenue.

Loto-Québec International Fireworks Festival

• Jacques-Cartier Bridge and its access roads will be closed in both directions on Thursday, July 9, and Sunday, July 12, from 8 p.m. to midnight.
• The Ville-Marie Tunnel (R-136) and its access roads will be closed between Exit 4 (A-10, Victoria Bridge, Robert-Bourassa Boulevard, de la Montagne Street) and Panet Street on Thursday, July 9, and Sunday, July 12, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
• Victoria Bridge: toward the South Shore, 2 lanes will be open on Thursday and Sunday evenings until 11:30 p.m.

REM light-rail network service

There is scheduled maintenance on the network that will result in a delayed start to service on July 12 and 13.
