Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki will be out for two to four weeks with an upper body injury, the team has confirmed.

The Habs no. 14 had a goal and an assist (+3) in 21:03 minutes of play in the team’s 4-3 overtime loss to the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday.

Though he didn’t leave the game after blocking a shot with his hand, he did not speak to the media post game.

Suzuki has played all 546 games since first lacing up for the 2019-2020 season. His Ironman streak puts him 20th all time and second among active players. Only Colorado Avalanche defenceman Brent Burns has a longer streak at 1,017 games.

Detroit Red Wings winger Alex DeBrincat has played 465 straight games.

The 27-year-old Suzuki has five goals and 12 points in nine games so far this season.

The first-line centre had 29 goals and a career-best 101 points last season, adding an additional four goals and 19 points in 16 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

The Habs recalled centre Owen Beck from the Laval Rocket on Thursday as well. Beck has played two games with the Habs this season and has yet to record a point.
