Goodfood Market Corp., the Quebec-based meal kit company, has had its federal Safe Food for Canadians (SFC) licence reinstated, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has confirmed. The licence was originally suspended on Dec. 30 after the CFIA found the company failed to comply with certain food safety requirements under the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations. While the suspension was in effect, Goodfood was prohibited from carrying out any activities covered by the licence. The CFIA suspends licences under the Safe Food for Canadians Act when a holder fails to meet regulatory requirements or if there is a potential risk to public safety. In this case, no product recalls were issued. Licence suspensions remain until corrective actions are verified. If issues are not addressed within 90 days, the licence may be cancelled. Goodfood Market Corp. has now met the CFIA’s requirements, allowing the company to resume operations under its federal licence. The CFIA maintains a public record of all licence suspensions and cancellations, emphasizing that licence holders are responsible for complying with Canada’s food laws.
