Forward Juraj Slafkovsky did not take part in the Montreal Canadiens’ training session on Friday at the CN Sports Complex. The team stated that the 22-year-old Slovakian was instead taking a day off for treatment. Slafkovsky was knocked out during the second period of Wednesday’s match between the Canadiens and the Washington Capitals. He was checked by Ivan Miroshnichenko and fell, before being struck on the head by Tom Wilson, who was passing by. After briefly returning to the changing room, Slafkovsky ultimately did not miss any playing time. In seven games this season, Slafkovsky has scored one goal and provided two assists. The Canadiens will play their next match on Saturday, when the Buffalo Sabres are the visitors. The Habs beat the Sabres 4–3 in a shoot-out on Tuesday at the Bell Centre.
