Pablo Rodriguez, a former federal Liberal minister and provincial leader of the Quebec Liberal Party (QLP), is joining Noovo Info as a political analyst, Bell Media announced Monday evening. Rodriguez will begin his new role at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning, appearing on a news program to discuss the provincial election results. The former PLQ leader will also be appearing on CTV News Montreal and CJAD 800. “Thanks to his in-depth knowledge of political issues and his recent experience on the federal and provincial levels, Pablo Rodriguez will enrich the teams of experts at Noovo Info, CTV News Montreal, and CJAD 800,” said Jean-Philippe Pineault, Bell Media’s executive director of news, in a press release. Rodriguez was first elected under the banner of the Liberal Party of Canada in the Honoré-Mercier riding in 2004. During his time on the federal stage, he served notably as Minister of Transport, Minister of Canadian Heritage, and political liaison for Quebec. He made the leap to provincial politics last year, winning the leadership of the PLQ in June 2025. However, he resigned a few months later, in December 2025, after a series of scandals had rocked his political party. The final blow came when Le Journal de Montréal alleged that about 20 donors had been reimbursed for their $500 contributions during a fundraising event—a practice that is illegal under the Election Act. In November, the newspaper had also published text messages suggesting that sums of money, referred to as “brownies,” had been paid to encourage people to vote for Rodriguez during the Liberal leadership race. This report by The Canadian Press was first published in French on Oct. 5, 2026. CTV News, Noovo Info and BNN Bloomberg are owned by Bell Media, which is a division of BCE.
