Coroner probing death of woman found during power-failure wellness check in Montreal West

The Quebec coroner is investigating the death of a 66-year-old woman who was found dead at a residence in Montreal West on Sunday evening.

According to authorities, firefighters with the Montreal fire department (SIM) discovered her body around 6 p.m. at an apartment on Hudson Avenue while conducting wellness checks linked to the prolonged power failure.

The Montreal police (SPVM) said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police were called and determined there was no criminal element in her death.

An autopsy is expected to be performed.
