As it marks its 50th anniversary, Concordia University is also celebrating the conclusion of what it describes as its most ambitious fundraising campaign. The Campaign for Concordia: Next-Gen Now fundraiser has raised more than $365 million, exceeding its $350-million goal and the campaign’s original $250-million objective set in 2017, thanks to contributions from alumni, foundations, corporations, faculty and volunteers who donated. “The remarkable outcome of the Campaign for Concordia: Next-Gen Now demonstrates the determination of our community, and our many friends outside Concordia, who are eager to support and advance the university’s mission,” said Concordia President Graham Carr in a news release issued Friday. “I am profoundly grateful to every donor who chose to invest in our students, our talent and our research.” Funds raised through the campaign have supported scholarships, bursaries, academic research, athletic programs, as well as campus improvements and other projects. Andrew Molson, Gina Cody and Lino A. Saputo are voluntary co-chairs of the campaign, which has contributed $30 million in financial aid for thousands of students. “The relationships built through this campaign will last for years and continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of thousands of Concordia students,” says Paul Chesser, vice-president of advancement, in the release. “It’s a celebration of collaboration and commitment, showing how collective effort can empower the next generation of leaders, innovators and changemakers.” More information about the campaign is available on the university’s website.
