A 59-year-old man is in hospital after crashing his car into the terrace of a business in Montreal’s Côte-Des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-De-Grâce borough early Friday morning. Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call at 2:30 a.m. about the incident on Sherbrooke Street Ouest near Harvard Avenue. “According to initial reports, it appears the driver of the car was driving westbound on Sherbrooke Street when he veered off course and struck the terrace of a business,” said Manuel Couture, a spokesperson with Montreal police. “Police officers who arrived on the scene began resuscitation manoeuvres while awaiting the arrival of Urgences-Santé paramedics.” The man was transported to hospital in critical condition, and officers fear for his life. “Inspectors are working to determine the reason for the driver’s change in course,” said Couture. He adds that alcohol and speed do not seem to be factors in the case.
