American Brandon McNulty won the men’s elite road race at the Road World Championships on Sunday afternoon in Montreal. The winner crossed the finish line of the 273.4-km race alone after a six-hour, 17-minute, and 4-second effort. Australian Michael Matthews won the sprint for second place, narrowly edging out Dutch rider Mathieu van der Poel and American Quinn Simmons at the finish line. This trio finished 17 seconds behind the winner. Michael Leonard posted the best Canadian result, finishing in 32nd place. Nickolas Zukowsky and Michael Woods finished in the same pack as Leonard, placing 35th and 45th, respectively.
