Forward Abby Roque has extended her contract with the Montreal Victoire by two years. The team announced on Wednesday that the American has signed a standard Women’s Professional Hockey League (WPHL) contract. Roque helped lead the Victoire to their first Walter Cup title, recording a record-tying total of four goals and eight points in nine play-off matches. Aged 28, Roque enjoyed a productive season, finishing joint 10th in the league for assists (14) and points (22). In 83 LPHF matches, she amassed 52 points, including 20 goals. On the international stage, Roque won a silver medal at the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games. She has also stood on the podium three times at the Women’s World Ice Hockey Championships, winning the title on one occasion. The Victoire currently has nine players under contract for the coming season: forwards Marie-Philip Poulin, Laura Stacey, Lina Ljungblom, Abby Roque and Catherine Dubois; defenders Maggie Flaherty, Kati Tabin and Jessica DiGirolamo; and goalkeeper Ann-Renée Desbiens.
