The Montreal police (SPVM) arson squad is investigating after two vehicles were set on fire in Rivière-des-Prairies. Police and the Montreal fire department (SIM) responded to several 911 calls at around 12:35 a.m. about fires on Nicolas-Leblanc Avenue near Rita-Levi-Montalcini Avenue. A sedan and a pick-up truck were engulfed in flames when police arrived, and firefighters worked to control the flames. There was major damage to both vehicles, and they were towed for analysis. According to the SPVM, suspects were seen approaching the vehicles, setting them on fire and then fleeing. No injuries were reported, and there was no damage to other buildings. The investigation is ongoing.
