One person is dead, and another is injured after a car crash in Oka, in Quebec’s Laurentians region late Wednesday night. The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) says it received a 911 call at 11 p.m. about the incident on Rang Saint-Sophie. The force tells Noovo Info that two 18-year-old men were in the vehicle when it skidded and crashed violently into a tree. The victims were transported to hospital, where the passenger was confirmed dead. The driver sustained several injuries, and the SQ says it is not ruling out the possibility that he could face criminal charges. The SQ notes that speed may have been a factor in the crash.
